“Then I said: ‘Lord, the God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant of love with those who love Him and keep His commandments.‘” Nehemiah 1 : 5
Faith begins when we remember who God is, Nehemiah did not approach God with fear or doubt in his mind, he approach God with faith.
He begins his prayer by recognizing who God is. He worshipped in His greatness, in His awesomeness, in His faithfulness, and in His loving kindness before he began to ask for what he wanted.
Sometimes life brings disappointments, delay, pains and some uncertainty. But even in those difficult time, God’s covenant of love still remains firm.
Nehemiah’s prayer is actually teaching us to trust God before we see answers to our prayers.
Do not allow fear, delay, or hardship to weaken your confidence in God because true faith does not depend on visible evidence, it depends on the faithfulness of God.
Nehemiah understood something, and that thing is, He knows that restoration begins with prayers because when jerusalem was broken, he did not panic, rather he prayed and God heard his prayers.
The same God who heard Nehemiah is still listening today. He can rebuild that dream that has been ruined, He can rebuild that home that has been destroyed by the enemies, He can heal the heart that is wounded, He can restore joy that is long lost and He can also rebuild our nation too. All we need is faith to believe that God is still working.
So let’s keep praying, the God who keeps covenant will surely come through for us at the appointed time.
